Frederick the Great, the Viennese Royal Family and Goethe received most exquisity drops from here.

It all started in 1612 when cellarman Matthias Wagner settled in Frankfurt and started botteling and trading wine. Ten generations up the bottling line it was again Matthias Wagner who established the restaurant Volkswirt, which is known throughout Frankfurt and even far beyond for its high quality fresh local food and cosy atmosphere. The restaurant has maintained the original wine character, but also serves fantastic draught beers and local cidre called "Äppler".
